My goal is to regularly traverse and record the main street of my neighborhood, and discover what is special about it at various times of day. To start, I focused on Colors during the day and at night.
Alberta Street is a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood artery. New residents and businesses bring excitement, while long-time businesses and residents fade away. The area is famous for its monthly street carnivals, featuring local artists and performers, and a somewhat anarchic vibe.
I took two walks, one at night and one during the day. When colors caught my attention, I photographed them using Instagram, a simple phone camera application.
I was especially taken with the bright, cheerful colors I discovered on a gray, drizzly afternoon. They were like visual vitamins! When I saw these same views again during brighter light, the colors were not nearly as striking. This realization motivates me to go out more often during lousy weather.
